But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
ASV But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I seek not your possessions, but you. For the children ought not to save up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
ASV Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be a burden to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.
ASV A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children; And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.
Prepare your work outside, and get your fields ready. Afterwards, build your house.
ASV Prepare thy work without, And make it ready for thee in the field; And afterwards build thy house.
Know well the state of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds: for riches are not forever, nor does the crown endure to all generations.
ASV Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, And look well to thy herds: For riches are not for ever; And doth the crown endure unto all generations?
She rises also while it is yet night, gives food to her household, and portions for her servant girls.
ASV She riseth also while it is yet night, And giveth food to her household, And their task to her maidens.
In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
ASV In all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you; that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.
ASV and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you; that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.
ASV I have been young, and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his seed begging bread.
